Today's world is characterized by large regional and world integration processes, which are introduced as a need and necessity to future socio-economic development as well as realization of the highest level of people’s welfare. With the rapid development of productive forces, national markets are becoming too small, while the need for cooperation between the countries is becoming bigger than ever, introducing so the need of admittance of different countries within regional and global economic integration processes in the framework of which the free movement of people, goods, services and knowledge is achieved. Regional economic integrations is the only right way through which small countries can benefit from larger markets, so Kosovo's European perspective should be seen through the prism of economic prospects. This paper addresses the challenges faced by Kosovo during the transition period, especially in terms of economic development, as well as the impact of regional integration processes in the economic development of Kosovo.
